Workshops

I offer in-person and virtual workshops for speech-language pathologists, allied health professionals, educators, and others who support children’s learning and communication.

My workshops draw on my clinical experience as a speech-language pathologist across Northern Ontario, including work in northern, rural, and First Nations communities, as well as my research on culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices with First Nations children. Sessions are designed to help participants implement practical strategies for use in schools, clinics, and community settings.

Workshops are tailored to your team’s needs and I am happy to collaborate on developing session topics.

Example Workshop Topics

Examples of past and potential topics include:

  • Exploring First Nations English dialects – Understand the impacts on speech-language assessment and learn strategies to ensure assessments are culturally respectful and collaborative.

  • Culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices – Gain practical knowledge about how to tailor assessments to the unique cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the First Nations children you work with.

  • Strengths-based approaches – Learn how to highlight and build on children’s strengths, fostering engagement, confidence, and success.

  • Social communication and social skills interventions for children with FASD– Explore evidence-informed strategies to support social development and functional communication in school and community settings.
